You may have noticed a surplus of happy people out there who take advantage of the legal medical and recreational use of Cannabis in The U.S. today. Currently there are 31 states that that have legalized the medical use of Cannabis. Nine states as well as Washington, D.C. and The U.S Virgin Islands are legal for recreational use as well as medicinal use.
There’s more to weed than just being stoned.
Let’s start with the basics. Why are you choosing Cannabis? It’s not so cut and dry. I’m not talking about teenagers that may smoke whatever “dirt weed” they can get their hands on. I am talking about adults legally using Cannabis for pain management, anxiety, nausea, or just to simply relax without the repercussions of an alcoholic hangover. I’ll add that it is a godsend for PTSD and Insomnia. Like thousands of others I have replaced my once prescribed Opiates and Valium with legal Cannabis and I am a whole lot happier. If you are considering switching to a Cannabis medication regimen, I strongly recommend talking with a few doctors first. Try different strains and methods and see what works best for you. In the long run you may be healthier and happier too!
The two types of Cannabis plants are Indica and Sativa with each strain having it’s own range of effects on the mind and body resulting in a wide range of medicinal benefits. Sativa strains tend to provide a more energizing experience. In fact, my best friend literally crawls the walls if she smokes it. Indica is relaxing, great for pain relief, and an appetite stimulant. “In the couch” as some say. You may want to try a few Indica/Sativa hybrid strains that don’t pack such a such a heavy punch. There are other factors such as THC (sedative and high), Mercine (body high), and other Cannabinoids that individually provide additional medicinal benefits aside from the obvious.
Today there are more than a few ways to ingest Cannabis. Long gone are the days of making pot brownies and rolling doobies. Flower is for smoking in a handpipe, a water pipe, or joint. Edibles come in all kinds of tasty goodies but beware, they are potent! I find them useful for physical pain or extreme anxiety as well as Insomnia. Wax or Dabs is smoked in a glass water pipe and is not recommended for novice users. I’m a pro and I still can’t handle it.
Your local “Budtender” at your favorite dispensary should know all of these details if you ask and will be able to guide you. And enjoy the ride.
